Aunt Margaret

“My husband’s aunt came with her family to our wedding in 1974. Aunt Margaret was a family favorite. She was lovely and intelligent and a strong but gentle woman. We visited her that next summer and she walked with us in her wild, woodsy back yard, pointing out different plants as the path meandered. I keep that memory of her. Five years later she came to visit with her husband to see her brother while she still recognized him.

As Alzheimer’s robbed her of her ability to function, it embedded in my mind the images of Margaret before her disease. She lived many more years, thanks to the loving care of her husband and family. She was always there. I am grateful for caregivers and family members who respectfully, patiently walk this path with their loved ones.”
